Climbing in the Rosengarten - Latmar group - DolomitesThe area around King Laurin's legendary Rosengarten and the world of the petrified dolls of the Latemar is a paradise for ambitious climbers and hikers.
Following in the footsteps of famous climbers like Stabeler and Santner, Dimai and Villgrattner, qualified guides will lead you along the excellent climbing walls of the Rosengarten and the Vajolet towers.
Whether you choose an easy or a hard climb for sure you will feel well satisfied at the end.
In addition to the climbing routes you'll find hiking trails of all levels of difficulty in the surrounding mountains.

Climbing in the Alps

Schlern area

Grosser Rosszahn (The "Great Horse's Tooth")
After the narrow ravine between the Large and the Eastern Rosszahn, you follow stone steps to an opening with a wonderful view over the Seiser Alm before heading left up the summit to the formation's highest point (2630 m).
Starting point: Tierser-Alpl Cabin (2441 m)

Maximilian climb to the Roterd Point and across the Rosszähne
The twisting, turning fixed-cable climb begins after the crossing of the high flat of the Schlern at the western back of the Roterd Point, and ends with the ascent to the large Rosszahn (2653 m)
Starting point: Schlern Houses
Marking: Nr. 4 and Nr. 594
Degree of difficulty: easy to medium, perseverance required


Rosengarten Group

Santner Pass
This Climbing path leads to the middle of the Rosengarten.
Starting point: Rosengarten Cabin (formerly Kölner cabin - 2339 m). After approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours, you reach the Santner Pass cabin (2734 m). Either on the way there or on the way back, you cross climbing path No. 542 over the Gartl cabin to the Vajolet cabin, then further to paths No. 541 and No. 550 over the Tschagerjoch back to the Rosengarten cabin.
Marking: No. 542 s
Degree of difficulty: medium to advanced, only with climbing equipment.

Rotwand
These climbing path leads across the north grade to Rotwand peak, the main summit of the southern group of The Rosengarten group (2608 m).
Starting point: Paolina cabin (2125 m) variant: Descent to the Rotwand cabin (secured climb) or below the Fensterleturms, continuation of the Masarè climbing path and then back to the Paolina cabin.
Marking: No. 539
Degree of difficulty: Medium, only with proper equipment.

Masarè
This climbing route is south of the Rotwand climbing route, and leads to the Rotwand cabin in the direction of Fensterleturm across the Teufelswand (ca. 2700 m) up to Masarè point, (2585 m), followed by a descent to the Rotwand cabin.

Kesselkogel
The Kesselkogel (3004 m) is the highest point of the Rosengarten group, and is considered one of the most beautiful panorama points of the Dolomites. In addition, the point of the Kesselkogel can be reached from either the western or eastern ascent. The eastern path is considered somewhat more difficult, but with ladders and well-secured wire cables, it can be mastered without great difficulty.

Laurenzi
The Laurenzi fixed cable climbing route leads through the high alpine area between Tierser Alpl and Antermoja. Facing north, you can see the steep breaches in the green Durontal and the distant high plain of the Seiser Alm, on the south, the stupendous scenery of the Kesselkogel Rosengarten and the Pala group up to the queen to dolomites, the Marmolada (3343 m).

Across the Scalette Path to the Lausa Pass (2720 m)
The Scalette Path is also known as the Larsec Path. Larsec is the name of a distant, little-known mountain ridge located east of the Rosengarten group. The path leads from the Gardeccia cabin through the Larsec Group to the Antermoja cabin (2497 m), and can also be taken by less practiced clibers (though they shouldn't be afraid of heights!).

Latemar

"Campanili del Latemar"
An easy-going stone path crosses the southern side of the Latemar from West to East. The path ends at the large cleft of the Latemar (2650 m - Biv. Rigatti). It connects with the normal route, path No. 18 and climbing route to the Latemar peak (2800 m).
Starting point: Grand Hotel Karersee, Carezza (1600 m)
