The sunny mountain village of Tiers (1028 m) with S. Cipriano and Weisslahnbad with its unique backdrop of the Dolomites is the perfect starting point for hikes, mountain and climbing tours in the Catinaccio and Sciliar area as well as in the Dolomites. Here every hiker, whether beginner or expert, will find "his" hiking trail and "his" mountain peak in every season and at every altitude.
The region offers a variety of opportunities to discover nature at every turn. There are high peaks, via ferratas, vineyards, nature parks, alpine pastures and high-altitude trails waiting to be explored. The fascination of the mountains can be experienced here up close while enjoying peace, relaxation and recreation.
The vacation area around Catinaccio, Sciliar and Latemar has the densest network of hiking trails in South Tyrol with a total of 530 km of trails of all levels of difficulty. The region is a popular hiking destination in South Tyrol! Since 2022 the hiking area Catinaccio can be reached even faster by the cable car Tires/Tiers. A shuttle bus takes our guests directly from the hotel to the valley station. The hiking bus takes you safely through the area several times a day, so you can explore every corner in detail. The various lifts transport you comfortably to the heights.

Hike to the Monte Cavone and to the Völsegg peak

The tour begins directly at Hotel Weißlahnbad and follows a path that passes by Wuhnleger Lake and ascends Tschafon.
Initially, follow trail no. 6, then turn right onto path no. 4A, which leads to the Tschafon mountain hut. Optionally, extend the tour to the cross atop Völseggspitze (approximately 25 minutes). To return to Weisslahnbad, retrace your steps or continue to the Schönblick mountain inn (an additional 60 minutes).

Over the Passo delle Coronelle to Rifugio Bergamo (Grasleiten)

Start by taking the cable car Tires to the Frommer Alm, followed by the Laurin-chairlift to the Kölner hut/Rifugio Fronza. From there, ascend along path no. 550 to Passo delle Coronelle (Tschagerjoch), then continue to the Vajolet hut and over the Passo del Principe (Grasleitenpass) until you reach the Rifugio Bergamo (Grasleiten hut). Finally, return to the hotel by taking trail no. 3 through the Ciamin valley (Tschamintal). This entire route takes approximately 6 hours to complete.

Haniger Schwaige

Hike for families.
The Haniger Schwaige is situated within the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park, and can be accessed via two different routes. The first route involves taking hiking trail no. 7 from hairpin bend no. 8 on the Niger/Nigra road, situated between San Cipriano and the Nigerjoch/Passo Nigra. This trail takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. The second route involves taking trail number 1 and 7 from the parking/bus stop at the Passo Nigra, which can be reached from the mountain station of the cable car Tires in around 30 minutes, which takes approximately another 2 hours. Alternatively, it can be directly accessed from Hotel Weisslahnbad by taking trail number 12 and 7, which takes about 2.5-3 hours.

Through the Ciamin valley to the Alpe di Tires on the Alpe di Siusi

To embark on the wild and romantic Ciamin valley (Tschamintal) hiking trail, simply follow trail no. 3. After approximately 2.5 hours of walking, you will arrive at a crossroad, where you should take the left path through the so-called Buco dell’Orso (Bärenloch). Another 1.5 hours of hiking will bring you to the Rifugio Alpe di Tires (Tierser Alpl). From there, descend over the Alpe di Siusi to Compatsch in about 2 hours. At Compatsch, take the funicular to Siusi and then the bus back to your hotel.

To the “Schönblick” guest house

Begin your hike by taking trail number 6 directly from your hotel. After approximately 1.5 hours of walking, you will arrive at the mountain guest house Schönblick in Aica di Fiè (Völser Aicha). If you still want to, you can continue on hike trail number 7 and then 5 to Presule (approximately 1 hour) and visit the castle or continue to the Völser Weiher pond (approx. 2.5 hours). Return journey by bus possible.

Through the “Gola dell’Orsara”

A long but beautiful walk for experienced hikers. Start from the hotel on path no. 2 across the “Gola dell’Orsara” to the Schlernhaus at 2.450 m. Continue up to the Petz, the highest point of the Sciliar (approximately 20 minutes). Take the Alpe di Siusi tourist path no. 1 down to Compaccio. Take the Alpe di Siusi cable car or the "Schäufelesteig" to Umes. Return to Weisslahnbad by public transport.
The whole route takes about 7 hours.

Via ferrata Maximilian

Height difference: 218 m
Duration: 2.30 h
A via ferrata over the ridge of the Denti di Terrarossa. From the Tierser Alpl hut to the Rifugio Bolzano or in the opposite direction with magnificent panoramic views of the Alpe di Siusi and the Tschamin valley.
The Maximilian climb, which is not particularly difficult but exposed in places, can be reached from the Alpe di Tires hut or from the Schlernhäuser and can be walked in both directions.

Begin by following the normal hiking trail from the Schlernhäusern to the Alpe di Tires hut, situated at 2438m. After approximately an hour of hiking, you will reach a junction marked "Roterdspitze - Maximiliansteig" on path no. 4. From here, climb to the Roterdspitze peak (2655m) and then follow the secured via ferrata over the ridge to the Denti di Terrarosa. On the northwest slope, you will reach a rock window that you must cross, before continuing along the via ferrata on the other side of the slope to reach the summit of the Denti di Terrarossa peak. Next, descend into a steep gorge located south of the Denti di Terrarossa peak. From here, you can reach the Alpe di Tires hut again.

Route description in reverse direction:
The entry is from the Alpe di Tires hut, from where you climb up to the first steel rope. Through a gorge you reach a saddle and continue to the Denti di Terrarossa peak (2653 m). Downhill through a rock window you reach the pass at the Denti di Terrarossa. From here you have the option of descending straight to the hut or following the via ferrata to the Roterd peak.

Via ferrata Passo Santner

Starting point: Kölner refuge, situated at 2339m (accessible from the hotel by taking the cable car Tires and continue by taking the cable car König Laurin), the most beautiful ascent into the heart of the Rosengarten, framed by rugged walls and towers with magnificent views.
After approx. 2.5 to 3 hours you reach the Santnerpass hut, 2734 m. On the return journey, you will cross climbing path No. 542 over the Gartl cabin to the Vajolet cabin. From there, continue on to paths No. 541 and No. 550 over the Coronelle mountain pass, which will bring you back to the Aleardo Fronza refuge.

Via ferrata Roda di Vael

Starting point: Paolinahütte, 2125 m. Vorbildlich gesicherter Klettersteig über den Nordgrat zur Rotwandspitze, dem Hauptgipfel der südlichen Rosengartengruppe, 2806 m.
Variant: Descent to the Aleardo refuge (secured climb) or below the Finestra tower, continuation of the Masarè climbing path and then back to the Paolina cabin.

Via ferrata Masarè

Starting point: Aleardo Fronza cabin (2280 m). This climbing route is south of the via ferrata Roda di Vael, and leads to the Aleardo Fronza cabin in the direction of Finestra tower up to Masarè point, (2585 m), followed by a descent to the Aleardo Fronza cabin.
Level of difficulty: medium, only with proper equipment

Mountain bike

The South Tyrolean Dolomites offer a variety of mountain bike tours, and downhills of varying degrees of difficulty. A particularly impressive route leads from Tires over the Costalunga mountain Pass, the Catinaccio circuit, the Duron Valley, the Sella Pass, the Alpe di Siusi, Castelrotto, the Pond of Fiè and back to Tires. A gigantic experience, suitable for both relaxed and sporty bikers.

The biking season starts at the beginning of April and at higher altitudes only at the end of May. For more demanding bikers, there are single trails with rapid downhills and difficult trails on forest and woodland paths that lead from 300 to 2.200 meters in altitude. E-bikes can be rented directly at the hotel.

Carezza Bike Trail

The mountain bike trail starts at the Nova Levante cable car and leads through the UNESCO World Heritage Site Catinaccio. The 4,4 km trail offers bridges, jumps, curves and northshores and is an exciting experience for cyclists. There is also an area with drops, tables and jumps for added challenge. This route is part of the popular Latemar circuit and is a must for touring and enduro riders. Open from May to October.

Alpe di Siusi Bike Tour

The impressive round tour takes you diagonally across the Alpe di Siusi, beginning at the cable car in the direction of Malga Molignon (Mahlknecht Schwaige). From there, continue on to Rifugio Molignon (Mahlknecht hut) and Saltria, before heading back to the starting point. With the stunning Dolomite peaks of Sassolungo, Sasso piatto, Marmolada, and the Sella group in close proximity, as well as numerous mountain huts, the tour is ideal for bikers of all levels.
